BENEFITS OF WINDOW TINTING:
Commonly known benefits of window tinting include things such as:

::  Added style of class to  the appearance of the car;
::  Strong, almost total UV block out (better than sunblock);
::  Effective heat and glare reduction within the vehicle;
::  Added privacy...

Lesser known benefits include things like:

::  Better fuel mileage due to reduced strain on air conditioning;
::  Fade protection for your cars interior trim;
::  Better resale value due to cars enhanced appearance;
::  Added safety for occupants in the event of a collision.
           (Prevents injury caused by flying glass.)

STATE REGULATIONS:
In Australia, each state has regulations covering the type of window film that is allowed to be placed on registered passenger vehicles. Basically, the regulations do not allow very dark or highly reflective films to be placed on cars for safety reasons. The maximum allowable darkness, or shade of a window film is 35%VLT.

WHAT DOES VLT MEAN:
V.L.T. stands for Visible Light Transmittance. This measurement refers to the amount of natural light that is able to pass through the window once a particular window tinting film has been applied to the glass of your car.

IN GLASS RADIO AERIALS:
Some cars do not have standard telescopic rod type aerials, but have the aerial built into the glass. (usually the rear window)  If “normal” metallised automotive window films are applied the AM radio band reception strength will be greatly reduced, (FM to a lesser extent) and this may effect the number and stations that can be received in your area. For in glass aerials we recommend that a non–metallised film be applied to ensure good radio reception. A particularly good film to consider in this instance would be the Carbon Black range of window films from 3M.

It should also be noted that radio reception is not the only reason to choose wisely when selecting a window tinting film. Most new cars have remote locking and immobilisation which relies on good signal strength between the key, and the receiver inside the car..
