Chemical
engineered nano-particles self assemble into a monolayer (one particle thick)
and protect the glass from contaminations and permanent etching stains.
Conventional repellent chemicals like Silicone and Teflon and Fluorocarbons
are not necessary. These glass treatments do not change the slip resistance of
glass and therefore do not create a slippery surface appearance. The bonding
is chemical resistant and abrasion resistant. Abrasive cloths, such as steel
wool cannot remove this product from treated glass.
Water runs off easily from the treated surface and dirt
particles are washed off by rain or when rinsed with water creating an amazing
self cleaning effect similar to that of the lotus leaf in nature. This technology is currently being used in the latest
range of Volvo and Porsche vehicles and is referred to by them as "self
cleaning glass".
